I dunno if you guys like hard to find music or books, but have a lok at these guys if you do.

Alibris, Inc.

So, Pasky has his website up - www.nathanpask.com - anyone that likes good photography should really check it out.

I was asked how to "up your google ratings" today... this was my response!... How far off the mark am I? Someone? ...I reckon i'm sort of on the right track?..

"You need to start posting places that have lots of traffic. DPS for one. Write a good cloning tutorial - i'll put it on the blog. That will help, but not solve the problem.. I re-added you to Google today, we wait 48 hours and see if they've picked you up. Keywords: send me a list of keywords tonight. 50 if you can... Put it [www.nathanpask.com] in your flickr posts... You need to get it out there. Get people with blogs to link you... All this ups your google ranking from not ranked to ...well... not much more, but it's a start!"

I might ask Shai Coggins, she's the goddess of all things blog.

Tomorrow night we shoot Oxjam! at Distillers!

Can anyone say "Nathan Reed Web Design" ...Soon you'll all be able to!

yeah your on the right track regards google...... some things to consider for giggles

keywords and meta information is really important and still used by some search engines to index......even more important on a site like nath's as most of the site depends on flash or java to run which means many search engines won't pick up on any content to index they'll only have the meta data you add to describe whats there.

genuine links from other established and higher ranking sites will help as you said.

another great tip is make sure you submit your site in the correct category at dmoz.org this is one of the only search engine projects where a human looks at the site before it gets added to the directory....because of this most popular search engines like google pick up there info from here!

if possible try and make your site standards compliant....it won't directly improve rankings but imo still worth doing. erm thats about it.....like I said one problem you'll find with a site like nath's is content (or at least content readable by a machine) isn't updated with regularity and search engines like to see content change often.....to that end I would say a dmoz entry and links to the site from other domains are the two biggies to concentrate on.

my 2 cents!

Goddess of all things blog, huh? Gee... :-)

Anyway, your point is definitely a step towards the right direction. But, there are so many things affecting Google rankings. Many aspects are beyond our control.

My personal take on it is to work on better search rankings on pages, rather than PR itself. Improve the blog, the content... Gather enough folks who support your blog. Network, comment on other blogs... Promote wherever you can.

Definitely a lot can be done! Good luck with it. :-)

Stu, Shai. Thank you both for your input! Most valuable. Folks - you heard what they said, get fixing!!..

I will go update paskys meta myself... The poor boy wouldn't know what meta data was if it slapped him on the forehead!

Thanks again!..

You are right!!! I think you should slap me on the forehead anyway just for the hell of it. I'm sure I deserve it.
