UNLESS YOU ARE STUCK IN HARRODS WITH A MILLION "SALES SHOPPERS"
Left the house at 10:25am today, with M... The reason I agreed to go on this crazy "shopping trip" was because she'd left her amex in Tesco [the BIG evil] and they'd destroyed it... So, we had to use mine [it's all about the points] ...So, off we go at 10:25am out the door, agreed previously by M was that we walk the hundred metres, directly adjacent to our block and straight into starbucks, so, in an attempt to appease me [I hate shopping] she buys me my first latte of the day... Off we go
First stop, shoe man to get her shoes re-heel'd... I wait outside and take a photo of a passing car... We wander on to fulham road, I pop into [ugh!] Tesco to pickup some nurofen "fast acting" ..it doesn't... And am ignored by three shop "assistants" [don't get me dwelling on the word "assistant!" ] ...I manage to get someones attention [I push over a display of glasses... not, but, almost!] and pay, we continue on... wandering along, I get a couple shots of christmas trees.. in the same vane as my "autumn leaves" shots... we're talkin' dead christmas trees, you can see them HERE... Our first shop is Designers Guild... We are talking LUNACY!...Women, hell bent on getting "The Deal" ....I stopped at the door, that was as far as I was going! Until it was time to pay... I was summonsed inside and asked to "line up" I was literally pushed out of the way by some horrific blonde "lady" that wanted into the line, I let her in, I didn't want her to explode everywhere.... 32 minutes later I was paying!
On from DG we made it all the way to, uh, two shops down... by this stage I had turned off.. Moving on, and, only now does it get interesting, M finds a toy shop that is "her favourite" and closing down... thus, the sale signs... she goes wild... three stuffed toys, one with wheels, half a kids library of books and some other guff.. I think better of questioning "who has kids" ...we move on...
Reiss, a men and womans clothing shop, after standing out the front for what seems like hours [at this point I take my daily threesixtyfive I go, too cold to stand outside, lured into a false sense of "im just returning something"...well, to my delight, I walked out of there having bought two suits, a black pinstripe and a dark brown pinstriped suit... nice, the start of something maybe?
We continue on... PETER JONES!... it is literally swarming with people snarling at each other, clawing over one and other to get that last ten percent discounted hand towel!... that kitchen appliance that's marked down 5%... I find the most dis interested woman in the whole shop to stand by, she happens to be manning [womanning?] an empty counter, she is trying to demo a juicer to bystanders, of which I am one... Anyways, she convinces me to try her carrot and apple juice, fine... it's ok.. she convinces me to try a WHOLE ORANGE stuffed in the juicer... this I will never do again.. pith juice, not good people
Peter Jones out of the way, we head to a local [old haunt] cafe for a coffee [or rather, a nice lemon and lime cordial drink] with Nath and Jodi... refreshing, then, it's off to the last stop of the day - HARRODS... or, harrolds, as I like to call it... This place is teaming with the native [naive] bargain hunter... praying on those poor defenceless "harrolds bags".. you know, the green ones everyone buys... yep.. anyways, we return some gloves and i'm outta there.. I run for a bus, I get on... swipe my oystre card against the reader and BAM... out of credit!...
I'm going to go to sleep now, and i'm going to try not think about it...
All is quiet...
