What the hell is wrong with us?

As of when did it become acceptable to let someone beat someone else up and not do anything?

When did it become alright to let kids roam around in gangs?

Why do people ask "why does this happen".... it's obvious!... "parents are useless".... I'm not in a gang, neither are my two younger brothers... what's the difference?... Money, you say money?... we grew up with the basics... food and a bed... so, what is it... yep... it's upbringing...

how can pparents who have no respect for anything possibly bring up kids that respect others? thats right, they can't...

What's the solution?

Well... What about capital punishment for everyone aged 13 to 23?...nope, then it'd become a game... OK, so, what about - as it was most likely bad parenting that turned the kid out the way he or she turned out - what about, if you're caught [by british police, yeah right] fighting / knifing / killing / threatening.. your parents are taken and publically flogged?...

Dispatches showed an episode lastnight "why kids kill" - they decided that kids kill because they don't have enough to do... what a load of S**T!... Kids kill because they have no respect for anything...anywhere..ever.. So, if I get bored at work [like now] and have nothing to do [ that will never happen ] ...I might just KILL you!.. - so, please, if you see me with nothing to do, please get me to sort out some filing or something... Dispatches - your weakest show thus far... [well, actually]

A mate of mine from work came out of his opffice this morning, shocked and horrified... he'd been just up the road, driving in to work and a girl pushed another girl out in front of him on the road... then she proceeded to kick the girl... D got out of his car, screamed at the "kicker" who turned on him.. he got in his car and rushed off, he went back to check the girl was ok, she was, he asked a shopkeeper to call the cops - they wouldnt... he was told "why call the cops, they'll just fine you for wasting their time"... WHAT!... are you serious?!... FINE SOMEONE for reporting a beating?!... this is close to the most pathetic thing i've ever heard...

whats the answer?...

Australia offers to pick up whale protesters

Heathrow closed after BA jet misses runway

urm, how do you miss a runway in a jet?... Sky News says: Heathrow Airport is at a standstill and has been closed completely because of an incident involving a BA flight. Passengers had to leave the Boeing 777 by emergency chutes and the emergency services were standing by. Sky producer Jonathan Levy said that "nothing is moving at all" at the airport. The flight involved is BA 38. BA has not given details, but has confirmed that one of its flights had been involved in "an incident".

An incident... you reckon a plane landing on your lawn, rather than on the runway is an incident... nice... "Yes, the twin towers were involved in an incident earlier today"

Well, actually, that's quite good reporting - no over dramatisation by BA... [go read the Sun report]

06:37 Train to Winchester... Out to a site today to install some kit, somewhere out west...

This mornings blog is brought to you by "Puccino's" coffee and a lot of will power... something I am not good at is getting out of bed, I always fight with myself while my alarm goes off "you don't really need to get up, do you... What if you just lay in bed a little while longer... Well, this morning was great... GREAT I tell you... I made it out of bed at 05:34 and into the shower, eyes hanging out of my head... Gathered my bits and pieces and headed out of the house... I had to get cash and as there ain't no teller near me, the tube at earls court was the closest... meant an unnecesary tube trip to west brompton, but, whatever... So, I get there - bags in tow - and pop my card into the machine, or, try to... card wont go in.. you know like when you're feeding a small child and he won't eat his food... the teeth are shut... yeah, it was like that. So, three machines.. I try another, sure enough.. card goes in - display doesn't change - no amount of button pressing will get my card back. at this point I am cursing the dreaded machine... I call the number on the front and give the poor person on the other end both barrels [I never was a single barrel kinda guy] they gently tell me that I need to call HSBC - I do and am answered by someone attempting humour in the morning, and, a bad australian / indian accent... gain, both barrels... he says - i'll have to stop your card - I tell him in no uncertain terms that he is not to stop my card, see, if he stops my card and I can't get it out of the machine then I am stuck, trapped like a rat... not able to get to my destination - I need cash for the cab 'cause I forgot to get petty cash yesterday.. Well, I am finishing my tirade when I look across at the other machine and my card has popped out - ten minutes later! -

I finally get some cash and make it onto a train as the doors close around me... the rest is history.. well, actually - it's present, but more on that later...

This is me, today.

FIRE!

We have a fire drill today, I am a warden... Yes, I have a yellow jacket... I am going to wear it over my fluffy coat... I have penned on the back "if you see me running, try keep up"... not cool, I know... Well, it's meant to be at 10:30am that was 16 minutes ago, but I guess you can't tell when a fire is going to start, can you... Unless you lit it!... Rob said to me "does it have to be realistic" yes, of course, "he is going to carry a server out under his arm... BRILLIANT! [we have 20 or so...] How will he choose? I guess i'll just come back to Rob, standing charred, with a confused finger against his forehead.

There was no fire drill, it was raining!

The Re-Design

So, www.gtvone.com has been up for ages, and, I think it's time for a change...

The little picture changes each time you load, and, it's simple... I have to regesign the gallery and not sure what to do about the blog theme... maybe just leave it as it is... Will see I guess...

Can I ask you, how rediculous is it that the McCanns are going to make a feature film out of their daughter "dissapearing" uh... ARE YOU SERIOUS!...

Can I say that "people of shepherds bush" if they don't close the train station now, they'll be forced to close it at some stage, so, shut up and get on with it...

May I ask, does anyone know what XMTV is?...

Should I redesign my blog to suit?...

Strobist points me at Chase

Whilst wandering through www.strobist.com this morning after my stupidly early start, i came across this video.. [see below] Here is a little text exerp on Chase, a Hasselblad Master...[taken from here... ]

As with previous Hasselblad Masters, American Chase Jarvis has always been fascinated by photography, although his interest began in front of the camera. As a young athlete at school he was frequently photographed not only by his father and grandfather, but also for the local newspapers. When his grandfather died, Chase inherited his camera equipment and used it to begin learning the art of photography, not realising at the time how it was to transform his life. Aged 35, he has now worked as a professional since 1996 and is proud of being 100% self-taught.

It's early, and i am headed to work... Its 6:52am actually... This is later than i used to leave to go to work... Through the barriers.. Sent me a mail off to crumpler and lowepro lastnight, need to get two bags to compare / test. I already have three camera bags, only one fits all my kit. The other two are day bags, and then i already have a crumpler laptop bag too... (Thanks Vinnie) good to have a camera backpack anyway.. Tube is here.. Front page of the metro.. 'mother killed by epidural' sad times!.. You can also win your place on a clipper yacht and race around the world.. 'man dies at sea after winning spot on yacht'... Yep, that would be my luck.. Well, nearly at glamoursmith.. Time to lock and load.. :) happy tuesday..

in the pocket of my blue jeans...

threesixtyfive | day 102

How many people do you think wear Blue Jeans... i'd answer "almost all of them"

The denim market has witnessed significant developments after the removal of textile quotas in January 2005, with the Chinese denim exports flooding the US. According to the US office of textiles and apparel (OTEXA), the Chinese denim exports to the US grew from 0.66 million meters in 2004 to 7.57 million meters in 2005, logging a growth rate of 1044%

Right, that's your random fact over with...

threesixtyfive is humming along! we've almost chosen the size and shape of our book, almost all the images are in and it's layout time!.. Mostly I will try to avoid working during the day and do this instead, until I am fired... yay....!! [just kidding!]

Right! RedBubble, who's heard of it? I was asked how i'd describe RedBubble to people tonight... i'd describe it as follows "RedBubble is a community of likeminded people that care about the art they make, it's a website, a little like flickr in that it has content and groups and communities and and and... it's just a touch more professional, is professional the right word?" ...that's sort of how i'd describe it...

Check out this RedBubble artist, Jo O'Brien

All is quiet...

UNLESS YOU ARE STUCK IN HARRODS WITH A MILLION "SALES SHOPPERS"

Left the house at 10:25am today, with M... The reason I agreed to go on this crazy "shopping trip" was because she'd left her amex in Tesco [the BIG evil] and they'd destroyed it... So, we had to use mine [it's all about the points] ...So, off we go at 10:25am out the door, agreed previously by M was that we walk the hundred metres, directly adjacent to our block and straight into starbucks, so, in an attempt to appease me [I hate shopping] she buys me my first latte of the day... Off we go

First stop, shoe man to get her shoes re-heel'd... I wait outside and take a photo of a passing car... We wander on to fulham road, I pop into [ugh!] Tesco to pickup some nurofen "fast acting" ..it doesn't... And am ignored by three shop "assistants" [don't get me dwelling on the word "assistant!" ] ...I manage to get someones attention [I push over a display of glasses... not, but, almost!] and pay, we continue on... wandering along, I get a couple shots of christmas trees.. in the same vane as my "autumn leaves" shots... we're talkin' dead christmas trees, you can see them HERE... Our first shop is Designers Guild... We are talking LUNACY!...Women, hell bent on getting "The Deal" ....I stopped at the door, that was as far as I was going! Until it was time to pay... I was summonsed inside and asked to "line up" I was literally pushed out of the way by some horrific blonde "lady" that wanted into the line, I let her in, I didn't want her to explode everywhere.... 32 minutes later I was paying!

On from DG we made it all the way to, uh, two shops down... by this stage I had turned off.. Moving on, and, only now does it get interesting, M finds a toy shop that is "her favourite" and closing down... thus, the sale signs... she goes wild... three stuffed toys, one with wheels, half a kids library of books and some other guff.. I think better of questioning "who has kids" ...we move on...

Reiss, a men and womans clothing shop, after standing out the front for what seems like hours [at this point I take my daily threesixtyfive I go, too cold to stand outside, lured into a false sense of "im just returning something"...well, to my delight, I walked out of there having bought two suits, a black pinstripe and a dark brown pinstriped suit... nice, the start of something maybe?
threesixtyfive | day 123

We continue on... PETER JONES!... it is literally swarming with people snarling at each other, clawing over one and other to get that last ten percent discounted hand towel!... that kitchen appliance that's marked down 5%... I find the most dis interested woman in the whole shop to stand by, she happens to be manning [womanning?] an empty counter, she is trying to demo a juicer to bystanders, of which I am one... Anyways, she convinces me to try her carrot and apple juice, fine... it's ok.. she convinces me to try a WHOLE ORANGE stuffed in the juicer... this I will never do again.. pith juice, not good people

Peter Jones out of the way, we head to a local [old haunt] cafe for a coffee [or rather, a nice lemon and lime cordial drink] with Nath and Jodi... refreshing, then, it's off to the last stop of the day - HARRODS... or, harrolds, as I like to call it... This place is teaming with the native [naive] bargain hunter... praying on those poor defenceless "harrolds bags".. you know, the green ones everyone buys... yep.. anyways, we return some gloves and i'm outta there.. I run for a bus, I get on... swipe my oystre card against the reader and BAM... out of credit!...

I'm going to go to sleep now, and i'm going to try not think about it...

no news | good news?

HANNAH has stopped the news papers at work over Christmas, ah, it ain't Christmas anymore Toto... So, I was going to spend half an hour writing something derogatory about todays crap "news" instead, I'll make some up...

....no, I won't, I'm stuck watching the extreme sports channel as there are skiiers trying to break land speed records, legs and necks all at once... i'm a skiier myself you know...

Getting High

That's me.. yep..

...i'm off to the cafe.... back later!

Headphone Zen and the Real Angus

ZEN : When I get up in the morning, I take no note of how I think the day will go... No "right side of the bed" no "cloudless sky"... When I have my morning coffee, there is no "If it tastes good, it will be a good day"... When I pop into the shower, it's not about which way the water goes... for me, it's all about the headphones... I get ready to walk out the door, I turn my ipod on and bring my headphones up to pop into my ears [they are in ear ones like THIS] now, they have a little L and R demarKation on them so you know which is which... If I pull them up and L is in my left hand, I know I am going to have a good day... it's that simple folks...

Burger King : Only "Aberdeen Angus" Beef
....And then, in fine print on one corner of the wrapper "and cross bred Angus"... So, your burger could actually be Angus and Fresian burger...

Been so long since I seen your face, or felt a part of this human race..

A man needs somethin' he can hold on to..
A nine pound hammer or a woman like you..

Jolene, I ain't about to go straight, it's too late..
I found myself facedown in a ditch, booze in my hair, blood on my lips..

Still don't know what love means, still don't know what love means..

The news in brief....

It amuses me you know, we didn't get snow... not a jot [in London, I don't care about you folk out in the hills!...sorry!...] BUT...

"Thousands face more misery in engineering works fiasco"

A fiasco, what is a Fiasco... no, better still, Misery... lets work on that...

Misery, as well as being a horror novel by Stephen King from 1987, is a state where you are "at a low point"... a feeling of intense unhappiness; "she was exhausted by her misery and grief"... People get to this point cause their train isn't running?.. What about "your dog has been hit by a car.." that's a better reason, or.. " i'm sorry, but you're going to lose your leg " ...misery, cause a train isn't running... soft, the lot of you...

Britons "most addicted to fast food"
When it comes to a fast food fix, Britons love a good pig out more than anyone [yep, including you Americans!] ...this is based upon a poll where "45% agreed to the statement : I like the taste of fast food too much to give it up"... The poll consisted of 9000 people... Did you know that in July 2007, the estimated population of Briton was 60,776,238 people... uh, how many times does 9000 divide into 60 million?...

Big Brother | Kill me now!
I can't stand reality television, partially because I know just how "produced" it is [I have worked on the set of a reality tv show before now] There really isn't that much "Reality" at all... It should actually just be called "this is going to be really crap, why watch?" ...or, better still... "Waste of your time 2008"

I mean, please... can someone tell me what this is?!...

All the wild horses...

The title of this post has nothing to do with the content, so, on with the story... [sorry horse lovers]

OBAMA is leading HILARY in the polls... Um, who the hell is OBAMA?.. OSAMAS brother?... [sorry, that was crap, I realise this] ...Anyway, Yeah, obama...born 1961, he's the US senator for Illinois [ILL A NOY] and... he's a lawyer, baby... ODDS ON 7/2... PLACE YA BETS FOLKS...

Oh, and he's a Democrat...

Hillary, Born 1947 [I thought that said 1974!] ...she's a hard faced woman with neither here nor there dress sense... not to be trifled with... could be funny, if she wins the whole of Louisiana may take up rms and shoot itself...

NOW: Todays news.... urm, that makes me "chortle" with laughter...

"SNOW CHAOS WARNING FOR COMMUTERS"
This is the headline for a possible 1" of snow... ONE INCH... A friend of mine from Minnesota just got back from her family christmas, where they have feet of snow to drive through... FEET LONDON... FEET... It really does amuse me, it's a national joke, surely? 1" of snow and the trains grind [slide] to a halt, the roads see drivers trapped for days!!... Planes are stranded and buses slide sideways into grannies on their power walkers, headed to the shops... One dead Granny, killed by the man...

Lindsay Lohan is a slapper...
Paris is to release 2000 electric cars to the public, people will be able to drive off from multiple points throughout the French capital and leave the cars "anywhere"... in a ditch is my guess, or, on fire upside down... [don't get me wrong, I love one or two french people]

Firms must pay to play radio!.. Bosses from the "performing rights society" say that firms should cough up £120 annually for companies to listen to the radio... GOOD maybe this will stop my HR manager listening to Bangra [spelling baby] at "11" in his office... it's..uh... weird... but I like it, and it makes me want to dance... no, really

Giant cargo ship runs aground! A ship carrying 42,700 "Giants" has run aground in the busy Dover straight today... "They are very big" the coastguard said...

A 999 CALL EVERY EIGHT SECONDS ON NEW YEARS EVE
Londons ambulance crews had to put up with drunken idiots calling 999 every 8 seconds on new years eve. To combat this, they are going to throw any drunken revelers into a pit of cold sick next new years eve, this will be a public spectacle, a representative said. Get your cameras ready folks, and your nose plugs...

let the games begin

00:00 | 2008

So, 2008 is off and running on the outer wing now... OK, so, I don't even like football but whatever. We spent a while lastnight in some dodgy Thai restraunt in Putney, the food [mains] were rubbish... I had Duck curry - easily the worst I have had. The appertisers were good all round and the desert was "ok" but the atmosphere was good... The music was something like a bad 90's wedding but the owners wife was suitably trollied and provided us with ample "bad dance moves" she was sweet though...

What does 2008 hold? No idea... Maybe another job, maybe another country, maybe another person... Who can tell eh...

I'd love to work for myself, but i'm not sure that it's a viable option, we shall see.

I'd love to be a travelling salesman... oh, hangon, no I wouldn't

I'd love to be a person that finished something "resolution | finish stuff"

Yeah, so many people want to be some many different things... A good new years resolution I heard lastnight was "to try yoghurt"... Another was to get fit... Another was to "not have a new years resolution"

Each to their own I guess, Why not, I should go ride my bike really... I need to get fit BUT i bet I DON'T...

The New Year Crew | 2007/2008
happynew year! | the crew

From left to right, ...unsure [sorry!] Kylie, Sam, Laura, Michelle, Me, Jodi, Nath and Steph rounding out our ninesome... This was taking by a very scared waiter [My DSLR has a battery grip and had its big flash on, can be quite daunting]

Do you have any plans?
I only know one thing is for certain this year, that is that I will continue to do what I do, whatever that is, maybe with a slight change in direction . We have some plans, not set in stone yet, so no hints... We're going to Peru in the next few months, a bit of Inca trail action, lots of camera gear and maybe some exhaustion... Bring it on, I say... Maybe some Bolivian treks, not sure...

A friend of mine went to Bolivia, shooting, for charity... With some amazing results which you can see here I'm sure you will agree, she captured something special here.

Anyway, this first post of 2007, it comes to you from starbucks, typically, I won't quit coffee... but, I will get fit, I will ride my bike, I will go skiing and not hurt, I will finish stuff, I will think more and talk less.

I will...

oh, and Chlo... it gets easier kiddo, really, it does... keep going [and, the solution to working at Maccas is this: make the mac-chloe burger... I'd suggest a cheeseburger, and a fillet within the confines of a bigmac.. so, bread, bigmac patty, salad, cheese burger, bread, fillet or fish, salad, bread, bigmac patty and sauce [lots of sauce!] and then bread... MAKE IT YOUR OWN! teehee... xx

NOTE: I just heard the MOST stupid thing ever, some posh git in starbucks just said to some european bird he's with "you should be nice to people on new years day, they've had a hard night"... what, git, so you treat people like crap the rest of the time?.. people like this make me sick....
