WIFI KILLS CHILDREN....Right?
I watched a show the other night, a BBC program, Panorama" ...the one about Wifi and the effects it has on our (your) kids... And I have to say, what a trumped up load of bollocks... I work for a company that makes some of the GREAT television that you watch, And can happily say that our entire building is wireless(ish) and so is the one they were working in... Why, then, were they not concerned about that if it's so bloody dangerous!... Panorama..Get a grip!.. I found another blog that had the same sentiment.
Have more coffee before you come up with random ideas, please.

Ten Tips : Rock Photography www.jpgmag.com
Ten Tips | Rock Photography by Andrew Finden
Let's get one thing straight: shooting a rock concert is great fun. It is great fun because it's unpredictable, spontaneous, and full of potentially great shots. Musicians tend to be expressive, especially when they are performing to a huge crowd of adoring fans, so the results can be images full of emotion and energy. However, this energy is also the cause of one of the biggest challenges in live music photography. Capturing the gyrating rock star can be a tricky business. So here are some tips to help you capture that Rolling Stone cover....[cont..]

11 Surefire Tips for Improving Your Landscape Photography...
My first love in photography when I first got my trusty old Minolta SLR as a teenager was landscapes. There’s something about getting out in nature with the challenge of capturing some of the amazing beauty that you see. Perhaps it fits with my personality type - but I loved the quietness and stillness of waiting for the perfect moment for the shot, scoping out an area for the best vantage point and then seeing the way that the light changed a scene over a few hours.
While I don’t get as much time as I’d like for Landscape Photography these days - I thought I’d jot down a few of the lessons that I learned in my early years of doing it. I’d love to hear your own Landscape Photography tips in comments below...[Cont!...]

Man crushed by flying cow
A man was killed after his car collided with a large cow, sending the creature flying into the air before it landed on the car rooftop and crushed the driver.
Police said the 26-year-old Broome man was driving along the Exmouth-Minilya Road near Carnarvon, in Western Australia, on Wednesday night when his Ford utility smashed into the cow, which was standing in the middle of the road.
"It is believed that the cow had been thrown onto the roof of the car and dented it on the driver's side, crushing the car on impact," WA Police said in a press release.
"The car continued to travel down the road, where it appears the animal has fallen off around 50 metres past the point of impact."
The car veered on and off the road several times before coming to a halt in bushland, police said.
It was not until 9.30am the next morning that a passer-by came across the accident.
The driver's death brought the state's road toll to 98.

Will I ever sell a photo?...
So, I have a couple of pictures that I have taken up on a couple of websites now, just as of lastnight. I am in the process of submitting my pictures to Alamy, A stock website... Will be interesting to see how it goes - or - it will be a waste of time, but, at least I will know.
I need a couple more lenses and a flash, I have decided... I was trying to choose between the Canon EF100mm f2.8 Macro and the Canon EF-S 60mm f2.8 lens... I'd also like a zoom lens and will be renting the CANON EF 100-400MM F/4.5-5.6 L IS USM sometime soon...
Canon have released the new flash - the 580EX II... Based on the fact that my mate Nathan has the 580EX and that it is fantastic... I reckon this one will be a ripper!... With extra little things like being Water and Dust resistant.. it's right up my alley!...Here are some of its new features: Approx. 20% faster recycling time compared to 580EX
Superior build quality, including a metal foot for higher rigidity
Max. Guide No. 58 at 105mm setting (GN 190, feet)
Auto conversion of flash coverage with compatible digital SLR cameras
White Balance info communicated instantly to compatible digital SLR cameras
Full swivel, 180° in either direction
AF-assist beam, compatible with all AiAF points on every EOS SLR
Dust- and water- resistance to match the EOS-1D Mark III
Well... enough dreaming, time to sleep!

WEEE...A Directive...
What the hell is WEEE?...well, it's "Waster, Electrical and Electronic Equipment"...and, what the heck am I talking about it for?... I just read an interesting article in a magazine about it and how it applies to photography. So, Last January a regulation came into effect that is set to reduce the amount of electrical waste sent to landfill by obliging companies handling electrical equipment to dispose of batteries and electrical goods effectively... An estimated 6000 to 20000 companies will have to take action to avoid prosecution. The directive makes battery recycling obligatory by 2008 and will ban most batteries with more than a trace of toxic cadmium or mercury. It also sets strict targets for battery collection and recycling. Distributors will have to take back spent batteries and accumulators regardless of when they were placed on the market... interesting concept!...
Weirdest thing...
Usually when i'm at the beach, I detest seagulls.. Always flapping around trying to steal the chips that you dont have. Well, just arrived at work.. Sitting her setting up for the day with the door to the balcony wide open and enjoying the crisp morning air when I hear the sound of seagulls. It was like I was at the beach and not at work on a Monday morning preparing for the onslaught.

BRITAIN: What's wrong with you?
Two teenage girls were fined £80 for drawing chalk pictures on a pavement in Bangor, Gwynedd.
Hazel Mercer and her friend Charli Lyth, both 16, were given fixed penalties when a police officer saw them drawing hearts and rainbows.
One of the girls' fathers has vowed to fight the fine in court, adding the drawings were washed away by rain.
A North Wales Police spokeswoman said there had been a previous problem with graffiti nearby.
The girls said they were using "pavement chalks" to draw the pictures on a quiet residential street.
Their families claimed the pair were told they would be threatened with ASBOs if their graffiti continued.
Should you be fined for chalking on pavements?
Keith Marsh, Hazel's father, said he had been told to pay the fine within 28 days.
He said North Wales Police had since telephoned him and offered to reduce the fine to £40, but he told them to "forget it".
He added: "We'll go to court if necessary and I intend to make an official complaint.
"The police said there'd been a graffiti problem near the university, but that's a long way away and nothing to do with these girls.
"The girls paid £1 for 25 pavement chalks and they created girlie pictures on a path. What's wrong with that?"
Fixed penalty
A North Wales Police spokeswoman said: "Chalk graffiti has been a persistent problem in upper Bangor for quite some time, particularly around the university buildings.
"Whilst on patrol an officer found two teenage girls drawing pictures and symbols on the road. Both were dealt with by means of a fixed penalty."
She added there had been a problem near Bangor's university where a heavy-duty type of chalk had been used, requiring the use of special equipment to remove it.

chilled and feeling helpful
Whilst travelling to work this morning, I was sitting next to an old man, he was a classic old man... very english, well dressed with a handkerchief in his pocket, well spoken and down to earth... I asked him if he could hear my music / was it bothering him. he answered no to both. The man wanted to continue the conversation, he asked me what it was that I was listening to and why we "young people" always had "these things" in our ears wherever we went. I was listening to PinkFloyd, Final Cut as it happened - he knew of it, we chatted about it for a minute and then moved on to why we had these things in all the time. My main reason was, as I told him, because I love music, it is as someone said, the soundtrack to my life - I guess?... but, moreso, it can choose my mood for me... when I listen to something chilled out on the way in on the tube, I am generally chilled out at work... If I listen to nineinchnails, I can be somewhat more rowdy (understatement of week). This morning I was chilled and feeling helpful. I carried a bag up some steps for a woman, I chatted to the man on the tube who was intent on purchasing himself one of these gadgets.. I offered him some advice and he went on his way...
Maybe he and I will rock out on the tube next tuesday?
My day was only beginning with the old guy, and continued on rather mundanely until about 3pm... coffee o'clock... I went to my local (to remain nameless) and stood in line... there was an elderly woman infront of me, leaning against the counter, her walking stick hanging from the edge. She had just finished paying with her shaking hands, and in small coins. She looked a bit baffled and slightly upset as to how she was going to get her, her cup of tea and her walking stick back to a table, so, I offered help. I worked out where she could sit, carried her tea across, made sure she got there OK, got her some milk (full fat - good on you old girl) and even stirred her tea for her... She beemed me the sort of smile that I have not seen for some time from a stranger the whole time I was helping her.. It was lovely!... We need to look after our old people, some of them don't have long left but they do have lots to tell...
nb: the large coffee chain that I was in gave me my coffee for free for being helpful... miracle!

Can't Breathe...
Walking down Old Brompton Road the other morning, lovely morning - sun was shining, birds chirping, all that good stuff... BUT... then I started to notice the horrific little yellow stuff that floats around and all of a sudden, my body wouldnt let me breathe... it just stopped!... "Mouth, this is brain... come in ...over"...."Mouth, we have a situation and you're going to need to shut down right away... and make sure nose gets the message while you're at it"....OVER
So - mouth, being the obedient thing that it is...shut down
